When To Call the Vet

Call your veterinarian if you see the following signs:

  • Unusual behavior, including aggression or lethargy
  • Unusual discharge from the nose, eyes or other body openeings
  • An increase or decrease in appetite that lasts more than a few days
  • Excessive head shaking, scratching or licking
  • Swelling or abnormal lumps
  • Limping or difficulty getting up or lying down
  • Foul breath or excessive deposits on teeth
  • Changes in urination or drinking habits
  • Persistent vomiting or diarrhea
  • Obvious injury or illness

In an emergency, call your veterinary clinic immediately.

Normal Body Temperature: 100.5 - 102.5 degrees F.
Heart Rate (Dogs): 70 - 120 beats per minute
Heart Rate (Cats):120 - 140 beats per minute
Respiration (Dogs): 18 - 34 breaths per minute
Respiration (Cats): 16 - 40 breaths per minute
