Betty was found in deplorable conditions, having been abandoned and left to starve. She was discovered inside a plastic storage container, and only survived because of a hole in the lid that allowed oxygen to enter. Emaciated and barely alive, her rescuers rushed her to MedVet Chicago, and thanks to their amazing work Betty was stabilized and sent into our care to recover. After spending time convalescing in a foster home, Betty’s health improved and she was eventually put up for adoption. Today Betty enjoys the life she deserves, being loved and cared for in a new forever home!
Noah came to us after being abandoned by his previous owner on our doorstep. He was tied to a bench outside our front door, his face swollen with abcesses, ribs visible due to severe malnutrition and dehydration. Noah would initially be cared for by the Veterinary Emergency Group, before returning to HHS and getting continued care from our medical staff. Like Betty, he went into a foster home to recover from his infections and gain weight. He’s currently in a foster home with other dogs and cats, waiting for his chance at a new life in a new home.
Seymour was a senior cat found outside in freezing temperatures last November. When he was brought to us, his bones were visible through his skin as he was severely underweight. After spending time under the observation and care of our medical team, and with a guarded prognosis, Seymour would go to a foster home as a hospice case. He would make a miraculous recovery, and has now been adopted by his foster mom, looking forward to many years of happy living ahead!
Frankie was found by one of our adopters near a forest preserve, very skinny and with a rope around her neck. She would be examined by our staff veterinarian before being placed in a foster home to rest and recover. This sweet senior dog has shown herself to be a real couch potato, enjoying the company of the people who care for her. She has some issues with her vision, but is housebroken and shouldn’t need crate training if left alone. Frankie now waits for her new forever home to claim her!
